BROCKTON BLAZERS SOFTBALL CODE OF CONDUCT

Brockton Blazers Softball is committed to providing a positive softball opportunity to all players that register for our program, a youth sports program. To help facilitate that, we have established this Code of Conduct that outlines who players, coaches, and parents/spectators are expected to conduct themselves. Players and parents will be required to acknowledge this Code of Conduct during registration.

Coach Code of Conduct

 

All coaches in the Brockton Blazers Softball program pledge to:

 

  • Provide positive support, care, and encouragement to the players in the program.

  • Be responsible for all players on their team.

  • Make the best effort possible to insure that all players have fun.

  • Treat all players, coaches, parents, and umpires with respect.

  • Lead by example and always demonstrate good sportsmanship during games.

  • Focus on encouragement and positive direction to players during games.

  • Always play by the rules.

  • Respect the umpires and their authority during games.

  • Communicate with parents of the players on their team and inform them of all team rules, practices, and games.

  • Respect all facilities and equipment made available for their team to practice and play games.

  • Not use profanity, abusive language, or threatening behavior towards any player, parent, coach, or umpire.

  • Remember that they are a youth coach, and that the game is for kids and not adults.

 

Parent Code of Conduct

 

All parents of players in the Brockton Blazers Softball program pledge to:

 

  • Provide positive support, care, and encouragement to their player in the program.

  • Encourage good sports by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and umpires at every game, practice, or other events.

  • Place the emotional and physical well-being of their player ahead of personal desire to win.

  • Support coaches and umpires working with their player, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

  • Remember that the game is for the kids – not the adults.

  • Ask their player to treat other players, coaches, and umpires with respect.

  • Not use profanity, abusive language, or threatening behavior towards any player, parent, coach, or umpire.

  • Ensure that other spectators that are family or friends exhibit the expected conduct.

  • Communicate through the team coach. Concerns or constructive criticisms are welcome, and should be expressed respectfully and privately.

  • Share their concerns pertaining to the behavior of players, coaches, umpires, or spectators to the Board of Directors.

 

Player Code of Conduct

 

All players in the Brockton Blazers Softball program pledge to:

 

  • Encourage good sportsmanship from fellow players, coaches, umpires, and parents at every game and practice by demonstrating good sportsmanship.

  • Do their best to listen and learn from their coaches.

  • Treat their coaches, other players (both teammates and opponents), and umpires with respect.

  • Remember that they deserve to have fun during their softball experience and will alert parents or coaches if it stops being fun.

 

Conduct Violations

 

The following rules of conduct apply to all players, coaches, umpires, parents, spectators, and volunteers in the Brockton Blazers Softball program. Violations of these rules will result in disciplinary procedures.

 

  • There are to be no physical altercations or physical abuse of any person.

  • Verbal abuse of any person is not permitted. There is a zero tolerance policy for disparaging or derogatory comments directed at players, coaches, parents, volunteers, and especially, umpires. Verbal abuse of junior umpires will not be tolerated.

  • As our fields are located on school grounds, smoking of any kind at any Brockton Blazers Softball activity at the Raymond School fields is prohibited.

  • There may be no use of alcohol or drugs at any game, practice, or other Brockton Blazers Softball sanctioned youth event.

  • The use of profanity is prohibited at all games, practices, or other Brockton Blazers Softball sanctioned youth event.

  • Assistant coaches are not permitted to argue or discuss an umpire's call or a game situation. Discussion with umpires should only be handled by the head coach.

  • All league rules should be adhered to. Any intentional attempt to cheat or circumvent league rules is prohibited.

 

Other forms of conduct, not specifically described above, may be subject to disciplinary action.

 

Violations of any rules of conduct may be subject to but not limited to the following levels of disciplinary action:

 

  • Conference with program President and/or verbal warning.

  • Ejection from a game

  • Suspension from practice(s) or game(s)

  • Suspension from the facilities for a specified time

  • Expulsion from the Brockton Blazers Softball program

 

Determination of the disciplinary action issues for any Code of Conduct violation is at the sole discretion of the Brockton Blazers Softball Board of Directors or the active league at the time of the violation.
